It may seem strange to wake up to an email from your insurance agent referring to you as family, but if you are able please take a moment today to read this. This is the first mass email that the agency has ever sent out, but I found it an important step to hopefully provide you with some good news in a world that seems to only want to share with you the bad.
I know referring to you as my JIB family may seem a little over the top, but in a time where all we do is stress keeping our distance from one another getting a little money back in our pockets is one of the few things that is bringing us closer together.
This virus has effected each and everyone of us differently, but overall there is no doubt that people are driving less, and the insurance industry has noticed. You may have seen commercials from insurance companies or even a news story run on KARE 11 Tuesday evening saying that companies are giving money back because of the reduced amount of driving that has taken place.
Well, I want you all to know that even though you may have not seen your company in the KARE 11 news story, or seen a tv commercial from them I am happy to announce that all of the companies Jerde Insurance Brokers uses are following suit and will be offering the same refund as American Family, Allstate, and others that have been advertising. I know not all of you have your auto policy with Jerde Insurance Brokers so I can not speak for those other companies that you have your policies with.
Regardless of which carrier you have for your auto policy I can tell you that you will be receiving up to 20% back in the form of a refund for your April and May auto premiums. There are a few stipulations on this, the major one is that this will only apply to vehicles that have liability coverage on them during the months of April and May. So if you have a car with just comprehensive (storage) coverage it will not apply to that vehicle as you wouldn’t be driving it anyway.
This is the same refund plan that most of the other companies are doing. Some are giving a credit to the upcoming renewal, and some are just refunding a flat amount for eligible vehicles but in the end it all comes out to be just about equal. I realize if you do the math on your own policy this does not seem to be as big of a deal as you hear in the commercials that say they are giving tens of millions to customers, but in the end it seems like a fair response from an industry that it seems like always raises our prices, and rarely does it feel like we are being looked out for. And I say “we and us” because we are all in this together. I have to pay for insurance just like the rest of you, and I feel the same pain that you all do.
